IXP3 Internet Messaging Clock brings IM to the air

The IXP3 Internet Messaging Clock uses a technology that I’ve seen before, but I’m not certain what the name of it is. It uses LEDs that can wave in the air and somehow make words with specially timed flashing. I’m probably not doing a good job describing it, I know.


If you’ve seen this technology before, then you know what I’m talking about. It can usually be used as some kind of clock or to display pre-programmed messages.

Why use this type of technology for something practical, like displaying Instant Messages. It can connect to any Internet router and allow users to send messages via email or the product website.

Let’s hope that these are loving messages, because I don’t really look forward to receiving threatening messages written in red letters.

By the way, when the apparatus isn’t displaying messages, it can do other things, such as show the time and temperature. Don’t ask me how the thing knows the temperature, but if it is connected to the router, is there nothing that it cannot display?

Yes, this definitely looks like an item that I would want in my home. I actually believe that it is designed for people who travel, but hopefully you won’t have any trouble connecting it to the hotel router.

iTwin USB it allows easy file sharing

What you see in the picture here is the iTwin. It isn’t a thumb drive with two USB connections, but a way of transferring your files from one computer to another.

Sure, you could just set up a mainframe network, send a file as an attachment, or just put the file you want on a thumb drive and plug it into another computer. Yes, there are a lot of ways to do file transfers from one computer to the other, but iTwin makes the process a lot easier.

Here’s what you do. The iTwin comes apart into two equal parts. You stick one USB thumb into one part, then the other thumb into another computer. From there, you can drag and drop files from one computer, and it will automatically appear on the other computer.

Yes, the iTwins are connected wirelessly via the Internet, just like the bond between two twins. At least the ones that are psychic.

The creators of the iTwin hope to have this out on the market sometime early next year for a price of $99. You might think that is a lot to spend for this file-sharing device, but you should ask yourself how much you would spend to make your life easier.

Inverted Nipples

Flat or inverted nipples are fairly common, since anywhere from ten to twenty percent of all women have them. They do not pose any health risk, although they may be troublesome to new mothers attempting to get an infant to latch on to the breast and feed. The easiest way to check whether your nipples are innies or outies is to gently pinch behind one, around the edges of the areola (the dark circle). If the nipple protrudes, it is an outie. However, an inverted nipple will actually retract into the breast.

For these women, most solutions are rather simple. As an added bonus, the cheapest fixes are even free! Inverted nipples are actually connected to the breast tissue underneath them by bands of connective tissue. If these connections can be loosened or broken, the nipple will stand out. Some easy solutions to try include coaxing the nipple out with ice or stimulation. Gently rolling the nipple may do the trick. For pregnant women who need to correct nipples for breastfeeding, breast shells may be found in either maternity shops or in the hospital maternity ward. Worn inside the bra, breast shells consist of a small plastic disc with a hole in the center, which allows the nipple to protrude. The disc is then covered by a dome to allow air to circulate. The shell exerts some pressure, encouraging the nipple to stand outward.

Beyond breastfeeding, since there is no medical evidence that inverted nipples are harmful, women who dislike them face a largely cosmetic problem. If the solutions above don’t work, she does have the option of plastic surgery. Several different procedures can be used to correct inverted nipples, and most are geared towards keeping sensation and ability to breastfeed intact. With all the routes surgery can take, a woman should thoroughly explore her options and discuss her goals clearly and thoroughly with a surgeon before she undergoes any procedure.

Subway Shooting in MEXICO

MEXICO CITY, Mexico (CNN) -- The Mexican government posted security camera footage Saturday of a shooting inside a subway station that left two people dead and eight wounded at the height of evening rush hour.

The shooting at the Balderas station in central Mexico City happened after police stopped Luis Felipe Hernandez Castillo, 38, from writing graffiti on the wall of one of the subway platforms.

Hernandez Castillo was writing "Este gobierno de criminales," or "this government of criminals," federal District Attorney Miguel Angel Mancera said. As police tried to stop him, he drew his gun -- a .38 Special handgun -- and began firing.

The security camera footage shows a busy subway platform as the train pulls into the station just before 5:15 p.m. Friday. Just as the train comes to a stop, there is a disturbance in the crowd, and Hernandez Castillo is seen shooting at an officer in uniform.
The crowd disperses, and the officer runs out of view of the camera. The officer, who was a bank policeman, is later seen on the footage lying dead, face down on the platform.

The footage shows a man in a white shirt running off the train and trying to wrestle Hernandez Castillo. The man, who Mancera said was a federal security agent in civilian clothing, chases Hernandez Castillo around the platform. He frequently falls either because he slips or tries to avoid being shot.

The federal agent is on the floor facing him, about to get up and try to grab him, when he is shot in the head and falls to the ground.

Amazingly, a scattered handful of people remain on the subway platform during the shooting. Some are on the train, afraid to get off or at times making a run for it. Others are walking on the platform very close to the shooter, seemingly undisturbed.

Seven minutes later, the camera pans out to show Hernandez Castillo's two victims -- the federal agent lying on his back and the bank police officer in the foreground. Hernandez Castillo remains on the train, occasionally firing his gun and peeking out of the train.

At 5:23 p.m., the camera shows first one, then two, then three plain-clothes police getting into position on the platform. Within moments they rush Hernandez Castillo and pull him out of the train, with nearly a dozen police officers then wrestling him to the ground.

Hernandez Castillo was treated at a hospital for a bullet wound to the right shoulder before being transferred to the local attorney general's office, a common place to hold prisoners during preliminary investigations, a spokesman for the attorney general said.

He faces two counts of murder and one count each of attempted murder, aggression, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace, said the spokesman, who declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the press.

In addition to the two people killed, five people were wounded by gunfire and three were hurt in the crowd's stampede, the spokesman said.


Hernandez Castillo's motive is still under investigation, Mancera said. Witnesses told local media that they heard Hernandez Castillo yelling slogans against the government before the attack.

The names of the two dead are not yet known, Mexican justice officials said.

Pacquiao vs. Cotto on Nov. 14. Who Will Win?

Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the bout boxing fans need to see to determine - once and for all - who's the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today.

With Mayweather fighting Juan Manuel Marquez on Sept. 19, boxing fans will instead get the bout that most want to see.
Manny Pacquiao will meet Miguel Cotto on Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada. Neither Pacquiao nor Cotto is ever in a dull fight. The two in the ring together is certain to produce fireworks. The bout - at a mutually agreed upon weight limit of 145 pounds - will be shown on HBO pay-per-view. Financial terms were not disclosed but Pacquiao will reportedly receive more than 50% of the money.

A deal has been completed for boxing’s biggest fight of the fall: A showdown between pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and welterweight title-holder Miguel Cotto.

Pacquiao and Cotto, two of boxing’s most popular and crowd-pleasing fighters, will meet at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Nov. 14 (HBO PPV), Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com on Monday.

“It’s done,” said Arum, who was back at work in his Las Vegas office after a vacation in London and Italy and attending a wedding in Israel. “While I was away I reached a verbal agreement with each side. Pacquiao committed to the fight this weekend and Cotto the week before while I was in Israel. I was on the phone all the time trying to get this done.”

Arum said his attorney, Michael Heitner, was preparing the documents for signatures.

“But everything is agreed or I wouldn’t say what I am saying,” Arum said. “The weight, the percentages, the guarantees — it’s all agreed to.”

Although the percentage split was not disclosed, Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs) will receive more than 50 percent of the money. That was never a serious sticking point, however. The key holdup had been the contract weight.

Cotto (34-1, 27 KOs), a titleholder at 147 pounds, had agreed to drop below the welterweight limit for the fight. Pacquiao, the 140-pound junior welterweight champion, wanted him to come all the way down to 143 pounds. Cotto refused. Ultimately, they agreed on a 145-pound maximum weight.

Pacquiao, 30, the national hero of the Philippines, scored a sensational knockout of Ricky Hatton to win the junior welterweight title on May 2 at the MGM Grand. The victory gave Pacquiao a world championship in a record-tying sixth weight division.

Cotto, 28, of Puerto Rico, is coming off a bloody split decision victory in a title defense against Joshua Clottey on June 13 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Given their penchant for all-action brawls, Arum said he had high expectations that Cotto and Pacquiao would produce another memorable fight.

“I’m really excited because it’s a real fight. These are two real warriors,” Arum said. “Whichever way this fight goes, I think it’s going to be a classic because of the way these guys fight. There where will be a lot of engagement. They’re great fighters. Cotto and Pacquiao are gutty guys. If you want blood and action and excitement, this is the fight.”

Arum said tickets would go on sale in late August followed by a three-city press tour.

“I want to get it done the week after Labor Day so I don’t interfere with the Floyd Mayweather-Juan Manuel Marquez fight,” he said. “I don’t want [Golden Boy Promotions] saying I jumped them.”

Arum said the tentative tour schedule would be Sept. 9 in Los Angeles, Sept. 10 in New York and Sept. 12 in San Juan.

“Pacquiao and Cotto are both very pumped up for the fight,” he said.

Tickets for Pacquiao-Cotto will go on sale in late August.

Kevin Skinner is the Winner of America's Got Talent 2009 Season 4

Tonight "America's Got Talent" crowned Kevin Skinner as the winner of season four.

After a video synopsis of last night, Nick asks the judges for predictions about the winners. Piers says he has no idea this year. Sharon says tonight is bittersweet but she can't wait to see who America has chosen. The Hoff makes more "Hoff" puns while being dressed like an extra from "Dick Tracy."

Disco & Boobs
We now have the Top 10 finalists performing Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me This Way." I'm trepidatious, but then I remember that like 70% of the finalists are singing acts. Just when I think this will be BETTER than when "American Idol" threw Freda Payne, Thelma Houston and KC at us, Thelma Houston's boobs jiggle their way on stage in a green version of the same dress she wore on Idol. This is two big reality shows for Ms. Houston in six months, who is she sleeping with?

Oh my god, Kevin Skinner has to sing with her and it's scary. Kevin is DEFINITELY not disco. Drew Stevyns takes over and it's marginally better. Lawrence Beaman goes next and that's pretty good. The Fab Five, Hairo Torres and Recycled Percussion get featured together and that's pretty sweet, but I cannot stop focusing on the undulating bosom of Thelma Houston. Nightmare fuel.

Leona Lewis Performs
I love Leona Lewis, she's so good and super-pretty and I love that she hasn't gotten her nose done. Own your looks, ladies. Leona performs her single "Happy." It's no "Bleeding Love," but it's a good song in its own right.

There's a logo in the bottom left-hand corner reminding me that Jay Leno is on next. Does anybody else wonder why he quit late-night to do essentially the same thing 90 minutes earlier? It's not like those shows are live, either, so he's doing the same thing. I don't get it.

Audition Montage
Crazy monkey-call lady, a bad magician, Tom Everett Scott dancing, a face-driller, the weird contortionist sisters, Bret Michaels, bad singers, the sex-swing couple, a tiny Jewish Elvis, Avenue Q meets a bad country bar, the creepy dancing barber Tony, Edith Ann, a screaming girl who promptly went home and cut herself, and the big lady who danced with Nick Cannon (which, admittedly, was AWESOME).

And now some of the bad auditions are HERE. We have Bret Michaels and Dancing Tony and... some guys in gold lame and tiny Jewish Elvis and screaming cutter girl and creepy puppet guy and the weird suitcase sisters and Edith Ann and big dancing girl, who is dressed like she ate the cast of of the 80s version of "Fame." Hey, there's the sex-swing couple! At the end, the magician does a trick where his assistant turns into Grandma Lee and Piers dressed in their wedding finery. Okay, that was mildly funny. Piers is a good sport.

Nick Cannon sends us to commercial while faux-spanking Big Girl Dancer. He's a good sport too, I really like Nick Cannon as the host.

Cirque du Soleil
Banana Shpeel is their show and it's their take on Vaudeville. It's quite stylized and very neat to watch. I love the costumes and music. Very entertaining.

Orville Lounge Time
Grandma Lee says she's naming her baby Nick. Drew gets sexually harassed by Sharon via Nick. The Fab Five teach Nick how to clog. Yes, yes, get on with it.

Montage of the Season
How is this different from the montage of the Top 10 we saw at the beginning and the Montage of the Auditions we just saw? Sigh.

We finally get some results. Nick brings down 5 pairs of acts and eliminates one and keeps the other. The first pair is Barbara Padilla and Hairo Torres and Barbara is in the Top 5. Next up is Lawrence Beaman and the Voices of Glory. Lawrence advances, so no surprises yet. Holy crap. Voices of Glory advanced. I typed that last sentence just assuming it would be Lawrence. WOW.

The third pairing is -- oh dammit. The Fab Five and the Texas Tenors. Dammit all. I just know it's the Texas Tenors. Blech. And then Ken Doll and his Cronies advance. Sigh. Next up is Kevin Skinner and Drew Stevyns. Well, this is obvious. If the comments on my article from the other night are any indication, Kevin Skinner is JESUS and I am a puppy-killing devil. [eye roll] So Kevin advances, shocker. The last pair is Recycled Percussion and Grandma Lee. Thank God Recycled Percussion goes through.

This show is a joke. "Talent?" Kevin Skinner is awful and he'll probably win and that is terrible. I'm not saying anything bad about him as PERSON. I'm sure he's a very nice man. But this show is not called "America's Best Sob Story" and the fervor with which the judges were fellating Skinner last night is gross. Also: the American public is full of idiots.

Silly Judges Montage
This is all very nice and I DO like the judges on this show, but my god. This finale could SERIOUSLY be an hour. Ugh.

Shakira Performs
I don't love Shakira, not going to lie. And her song is called "She-Wolf?" What? Oh lord. I could not care less about this over-produced electronic song with bad dancing.

Results
We now narrow the Top 5 to the Top 2. Sigh. If it's the Texas Tenors and Kevin Skinner, I will poke sharp sticks in my ears. It SHOULD be Recycled Percussion and Barbara Padilla, but I don't think it will be. The fifth-place act is Voices of Glory. Fourth place goes to the Texas Tenors. Well, thank God. Now if Kevin Skinner can just take 3rd. Third place is... Recycled Percussion. Sigh. Of course it is.

Piers says you could not have two more different acts for the winner. Well yeah. You have one with a lot of talent and one with not very much talent who gets votes for... I don't even know why. I love country music and Kevin Skinner seems like a nice guy, but he has not had a good performance since his first audition. His tone is fine but he can't carry a tune. He just can't, guys. If you think he can, you are DEAF. I can't believe he's in the Final Two.

Rascal Flatts
We now have the Boy Band of Country Music. I like Rascal Flatts, they have good harmonies. If you think the Texas Tenors are any good, you should try a real trio of singers like Rascal Flatts.

Top Two Montage
Yet ANOTHER montage of this season. OH MY GOD, GET ON WITH IT! Lord in heaven.

Susan Boyle Performs
This is the only part of tonight I've been looking forward to. At least Britain can put two worthy talents in the Final Two. Tonight she sings "Wild Horses" and it's VERY good. I love this song, too. It makes me think of Buffy.

Results Time
Nick Cannon announces that the winner of "America's Got Talent" is...Kevin Skinner. God. Gag me.

Verizon Wireless unveils AD3700 USB modem with ZTE USA
