Wyclef Jean Shot In Haiti

Singer Wyclef Jean, who's in Haiti to support presidential candidate Michel Martelly in today's elections, was shot in the hand last night around 11pm local time.
Hip-hop singer Wyclef Jean was recovering Sunday after he was shot in the hand, his publicist said.
Spokeswoman Cindy Tanenbaum said Jean, who was in Haiti, was shot in Port-au-Prince on Saturday -- on the eve of the country's presidential runoff vote.
The wound was superficial, she said.
The singer was taken to a hospital, treated and released.
"He is doing well," Tanenbaum said.
Haitians are choosing between a former first lady and a popular musician Sunday in the pivotal presidential runoff vote for a nation still recovering from a devastating earthquake and political turmoil.
Former law professor and first lady Mirlande Manigat faces singer Michel Martelly in the second round of presidential elections.
Final results of the runoff will be released on April 16, according to officials.
Jean, who was born in Haiti, shot to fame in the mid-1990s as a member of the Fugees, a U.S.-based hip-hop and reggae group. He now performs as a solo artist.
He has been an outspoken proponent of Haiti through his Yele Haiti Foundation and was one of the first celebrities to offer aid after the earthquake.
In September, he officially ended his bid to be president of Haiti a month after election officials ruled that he was ineligible to run.
Jean previously vowed to fight the Haitian electoral council's ruling that he was not a resident of the country.
His eligibility had been in question after claims that he had not lived in Haiti for five consecutive years prior to the election, a requirement in the nation's constitution.

JAPAN is Hoping to COOL the Reactors soon

Japanese engineers fighting to cool overheating reactors laid a power line into a stricken nuclear power plant on Saturday as hundreds of thousands of quake-tsunami survivors endured desperate conditions in the frozen north.
In an updated toll, national police said at least 18,000 were dead or missing in Japan's worst natural disaster in 88 years. Just under 7,200 were confirmed killed, lost to the tsunami or interred in the wreckage of buildings.
Amid the sea of carnage on Japan's northeast coast, one tiny drop of good news seemed to have emerged with the military announcing the rescue of a young man who it said had survived after eight days trapped in his mangled house.
But a spokesman for the Self-Defense Forces later clarified that the man in his 20s was in fact a disaster evacuee who had returned to his house.
Half a million homeless people are struggling to stay warm in freezing temperatures and with scant supplies of food and fuel, after the tsunami reduced whole towns and villages to splintered matchwood.
Further south at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant, crews were locked in what the UN's atomic watchdog said was a "race against time" to cool overheating reactors and prevent radiation spewing into the atmosphere.
After an epic week-long tussle to tame the ageing facility, where the tsunami knocked out all-important backup generators, the crews were expecting Saturday to restore electricity to four of its six reactors, officials said.
The nuclear safety agency said workers had got a power line into the plant after the 9.0-magnitude earthquake -- the biggest in Japan's recorded history -- felled electricity pylons in the area.
With power back up, the radiation-suited Fukushima engineers hope they can get vital cooling systems online. In the meantime, they have been dumping water by hose and by air on the reactors to avert a feared meltdown.

But given the extent of damage at the plant, it was not yet clear whether the cooling system would work properly even if power is restored.
The lack of power has sent the temperatures of fuel rods -- both in the reactors and in separate containment pools -- soaring as fast-evaporating coolant water leaves them exposed to the air.
The natural disaster on March 11 led to a series of hydrogen explosions and fires at buildings housing the reactor units, stoking anxiety among governments and the public worldwide and contributing to turmoil on financial markets.
But in a televised address Friday evening, Prime Minister Naoto Kan promised the traumatised nation: "We will overcome this tragedy and recover... We will once more rebuild Japan."

Recalling Japan's recovery from the ashes of World War II, Kan promised "firm control" of the disaster and said: "We are in a situation in which this crisis is truly testing us as a people."
Japan and its G7 economic allies on Friday intervened jointly in world currency markets for the first time in a decade to calm the turmoil, pushing down the yen as intended and helping to lift battered Tokyo shares.
Japan's nuclear agency has hiked the Fukushima accident level to five from four on an international scale measuring up to seven, an admission the crisis now at least equals the 1979 Three Mile Island accident in Pennsylvania.
Japanese and foreign experts are stressing that there is only a very low risk of radiation contamination beyond a 20-kilometre exclusion zone, and say the accident does not compare to the Chernobyl disaster in 1986.
However, fears of radiation hold a terrifying grip in the only country to have suffered a nuclear attack, when US atom bombs in 1945 finally brought Japan to surrender in World War II.
The threat of a nuclear disaster carries a particular resonance for Ayako Ito, who at 84 is old enough to recall the dropping of the US bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
"The most difficult part is that you cant see it but people can just disappear like that," she told AFP at her hillside home in Kamaishi, one of the towns that bore the full force of the towering 10-metre (33-foot) tsunami.
"We're already not eating or drinking, and now this is happening to us? It's very difficult," she said.
A major international relief operation is under way for the homeless and millions left without water, electricity, fuel or enough food in Japan's northeast.

But thick snow has covered the wreckage littering obliterated towns and villages, all but extinguishing hopes of finding anyone else alive in the debris and deepening danger and misery for survivors.
The absence of electricity in the affected areas means little access to television news and newspapers are very hard to come by. So news about the nuclear crisis is often turning into exaggerated and alarming rumour.
Many nations have shifted embassies out of Tokyo, and the mood grew jittery far afield from Japan, with panic-buying of iodine pills in the United States and Asian airports scanning passengers from Japan for radiation contamination.
The vast capital's usually teeming streets have been quiet, although some residents headed to work as usual. The city's neon glare is dimmed at night, in line with a power-saving drive forced by shutdowns at other atomic plants.
A moment of silence was observed at 2:46 pm on Friday, exactly one week after the earthquake struck.

At one emergency shelter in the town of Yamada, in ravaged Iwate prefecture, hundreds of elderly survivors quietly stood and bowed their heads. Many of them wore face masks and overcoats. Some wiped away tears.
The confirmed dead from the disaster makes it Japan's worst natural catastrophe since the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, which killed over 142,000 people in the Tokyo region.

Shocks and Illegal Bahrain

The United Nations warned on Thursday of "shocking and illegal" abuses in Bahrain where the US-backed Sunni Muslim rulers are waging a bloody crackdown on Shiite-led protesters.
The violence in the strategic Gulf kingdom has alarmed Washington and sparked furious condemnation from Iran, Shiite leaders in Iraq and the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.
Dissidents were rounded up at gunpoint in midnight raids and armed police stood outside Manama's main hospital, amid reports the authorities were beating doctors and denying treatment to the wounded.
Fresh clashes erupted in at least one Shiite village outside the capital, a day after five people were killed when security forces crushed a month-old pro-democracy sit-in at Manama's Pearl Square.
UN rights chief Navi Pillay said any takeover by the security forces of hospitals and medical facilities was a "blatant violation of international law."
"There are reports of arbitrary arrests, killings, beatings of protesters and of medical personnel, and of the takeover of hospitals and medical centres by various security forces," she said.
"This is shocking and illegal conduct."
Scene: Bahrain's pro-democracy camp reduced to rubble
Five hardline Shiite activists and one Sunni dissident were arrested overnight after the army imposed a curfew on parts of Manama using its powers under newly imposed martial law, opposition sources said.
Bahrain's military confirmed it had arrested a number of people for crimes including sedition, murder and having contact with foreign states, but gave no details.
"Four men arrived around two in the morning. One of them put a revolver to my husband's temple and took him away without even giving us time to call his lawyer," Farida Gulam, the wife of detained leftist Ibrahim Sharif, told AFP.
Opposition MP Khalil al-Marzouk also said that Doctor Ali al-Ekri, who had been accused on state TV of spreading "fabrications" about conditions at Salmaniya hospital, was arrested there on Thursday.
Security forces firing tear gas and shotguns cleared out a pro-democracy tent city at Pearl Square on Wednesday in the worst day of violence since activists took to the streets last month.
The opposition said three demonstrators were killed in the raid, while the government said two police died in hit-and-run attacks by opposition motorists.
Hundreds have been wounded in clashes in recent days, witnesses and medics said.
US President Barack Obama, whose country is a close ally of Bahrain, called King Hamad to express "deep concern," while British Prime Minister David Cameron urged the monarch to pursue "reform, not repression."
The main opposition is demanding a constitutional monarchy, the resignation of the government and an end to repression in Bahrain.
Analysis: US-Saudi divide revealed in Bahrain
King Hamad declared a three-month state of emergency on Tuesday a day after more than 1,000 armoured troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates entered Bahrain to help restore security.
The sectarian tensions have given rise to fears among Bahrain's Sunni-led Arab neighbours that Iran, the Shiite power a short boat ride away across the Gulf, is seeking to foment unrest in the kingdom.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called the situation in Bahrain "alarming" and criticised Washington's Gulf state allies for heading down "the wrong track" of military intervention.
Bahrain is the home of the US Fifth Fleet and is a regional financial hub.
And Russia on Thursday called the Gulf military intervention in Bahrain a "road to nowhere."
"The use of force to resolve the situation, even if it involves mechanisms of regional cooperation, can hardly help calm the situation," news agencies quoted foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich as saying.
"Military intervention, either on a regional or broader level, is a road to nowhere."
The US Pentagon has authorised the departure of non-emergency Defence Department staff, while Britain said it was chartering planes to help evacuate its citizens.
Police and troops have fanned out across Manama, and Shiite villages in the surrounding countryside were reportedly sealed off. But there were few signs of the Gulf forces, which were keeping a low profile.
Security forces opened fire with tear gas and shotguns to scatter several hundred protesters who rallied in the Shiite village of Deih, west of Manama, Bahrain Centre for Human Rights chief Nabeel Rajab said.
It was not known if there were any casualties.
In Manama, tanks and troops guarded key areas and banks and big businesses were closed. The army eased a dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on Wednesday.
Health Minister Nizar Baharna, a Shiite, quit after police raided Manama's Salmaniya hospital in what state television reported as an operation to "cleanse" it of "saboteurs."
Twelve Shiite judges also stepped down in protest at the "excessive use of force."
World oil prices rallied on Thursday, with New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in April leaping $2.92 to $100.90 per barrel.
In London late afternoon trade, Brent North Sea crude for April surged $3.41 to $114.01 a barrel.

Mega Millions JackPot Lottery

Hopeful lottery players are gaining millions of reasons to dream again. There were no winners in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery drawing on Tuesday, so the jackpot now stands at $151 million.

The jackpot is the largest since January 4th, when a $380 million mega-jackpot was split by two winning tickets from Idaho and Washington. The cash option payout of Friday's jackpot is $94.3 Million.

The lottery has seen ten drawings since the last time a ticket was sold that matched all six numbers drawn.

The Courier Post reports there were seven tickets sold that matched five numbers -- but not the Mega Ball, one of them from New Jersey. Each of those tickets wins $250,000.

For players looking for an edge, mathematicians have long said there is no advantage to purchasing a ticket in a state or at an outlet where previous big-money winning tickets have been sold. According to lotterypost.com, the odds of a big-money winning ticket sold in a particular state or outlet is wholly dependent on the number of tickets sold there.

On March 3, 2009, $216 million was won by 10 co-workers from Chubb Insurance in Whitehouse Station, while on July 22, 2008, $126 million was won by the Lopes Family of Union County.

November 10, 2009 saw the Lopes Family of Union County win(yes, again) a share of a $77 million jackpot worth $38.5 million. And Elaine and Harold Messner of Woodbine, split a jackpot of $390 million, with each winning ticket being worth $195 million on March 6, 2007.

On December 18, 2007 a group of educators in Morris County split a pot of $163 million, with each winning ticket being worth $81.5 million.

On June 2, 2006 $47 million was won by Raynald Holder of New Brunswick. And Martin Fogarty of Hasbrouck Heights won $15 million on September 26, 2006.

On September 16, 2005, $258 million was won by Harold and Helen Lerner of Rutherford, July 27, 2004 saw $10 million won by Frank Zielinski & sons of Staten Island and Cherry Hill, and December 3, 2004 saw $25 million won by Hackensack Resources Associates, LLC in NJ.

Cornell and Teri Davis of Englewood won $43 million on March 14, 2003, October 7, 2003 saw Cindy Wilson of Neptune Township win $12 million, and on July 16, 2002, $165 million was won by Sundel "Sonny" Judson of Cliffside Park.

The lottery always said it pays to dream. It may seem like an impossible one, but it does happen. Often to someone near you.

Facebook Bails Out U.S

WASHINGTON – With March 15th approaching and the threat of Facebook shutting down, the U.S. decided to bailout Facebook!

Facebook, the world’s largest and most popular networking site, came close to collapse in early January after owner Mark Zuckerberg announced he would be shutting it down on March 15th due to “escalating personal stress.”

Almost immediately after WWN broke the news, Zuckerberg made a public announcement denying the story, calling it a hoax. However, WWN repeatedly confirmed with Facebook insiders that Zuckerberg planned on pulling the plug on Facebook.

Several insiders told WWN that Zuckerberg publicly denied the story because he was being pressured by Goldman Sachs to keep the site live.

“Mark was conflicted. He felt overwhelmed by the growth of Facebook and wanted to move onto a smaller project, but he felt an obligation to Goldman Sachs and other investors,” Avrat Humarthi, Facebook CFO told WWN.”

That’s when the government stepped in.

President Obama, who doesn’t want his daughters to use Facebook, knows that Facebook is a critical part of American life and told his cabinet and staff to keep it alive, “no matter what it takes.”

President Obama announced his plan to bail out Facebook Friday night. He said he got the idea for the bailout after one of his secretaries asked him to sign the PLEASE DO NOT SHUTDOWN FACEBOOK! petition.

The petition, which has garnered support from over 55,000 Facebook users, was signed by all 535 members of the Congress, as well as President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Under the Facebook bailout package, the government will become the majority shareholders of Facebook, and will spend as much as $250 billion on revitalizing the website’s security settings. It also plans to spend up to $22.5 billion on finally installing a “dislike” option for pictures, wall posts, and status updates.

“With this bailout, the government can finally restore America’s faith in social networking,” said President Obama, during a press conference Monday night. “No longer can we think of ourselves as conservatives or liberals, red staters or blue staters. In this new era of social networking, we are all equals. Through Facebook, we are united as one.”

The US Government encourages all Facebook users to remember that starting September 1, 2011, the website must be accessed through its new web address: www.facebook.gov.

On January 1, 2011 around 2PM in the afternoon a tragic landslide happened at Bolod bolod, St. Bernard, So. Leyte were 3 children died.



Around 3PM in the afternoon of january 1, 2011 a child name Jordan Lakipon was reported as a missing child after the landslide that happened in that day. On January 2, 2011 around 9AM in the morning together with the AFP, PNP, SOLERT, FIREMAN, Amateur Radio Club of Maasin (ARCOM) and Brgy Officials of that brgy. declared that they found the missing child underneath the coconut roots with 2 inches nail at the back of his neck.

PCOS Scandal

I am a software engineer from California. I just don’t want to remain complacent. I think rigging in Venezuelan elections will happen in the Philippines. I have Venezuelan friends who are IT experts, and we talked about this.

For a PCOS to be free of anomaly and cheating software/chip, during its testing and sealing, the number of possible voters per precinct should be the number of the test voters/ballots.

It is easy to make a program that will put a cap on the number of “fair votes”–those unaffected with cheating. The cheating happens after the cap is reached.

Example:

1000 total possible voters

700 – capped number of fair votes

701-1000 will be programmed to go to a favored candidate. Whoever the remaining 300 voters pick, it will not matter. The cheating program will translate the votes and tally them under the favored candidate.

IT professionals in the Philippines should know this scheme. 1000 test voters should pick president and representative. If no test voters, 1000 test ballots can be equally distributed to top five parties– 200 ballots per party. The result should be 200 votes to each candidate– president and representative– for the PCOS machine to be free of cheating software/chip.
