Microsoft Updates Office 2007 With "Service Pack 2"

This week brought a major update to Microsoft Office 2007 -- Service Pack 2, a free download that fixes bugs, improves performance and adds a few new features in the company's bundle of productivity applications.
This update should arrive automatically if you use Windows' Microsoft Update option, or you can download the 290-megabyte file yourself.

The headline attraction of Office 2007 SP2 is the support it adds for some important, non-Microsoft file formats. It can read and write Open Document Format files, which may help Office users share files with people running the sometimes-unimpressive, but always free and open-source OpenOffice.org suite. Office 2007 SP2 also lets users save a copy of their work as a Portable Document Format file -- a helpful feature that Microsoft had unwisely required people to install an optional add-on to use before.

A note on Microsoft's tech-support site catalogs other changes this update brings (for instance, "Adds conversion rates to the Excel Euro Currency Tools add-in for the Maltese lira and for the Cypriot pound"), while a separate article details SP2's tweaks to Outlook alone, including some advertised performance improvements.

I tested Service Pack 2 on a Windows XP desktop running the "Standard" edition of Office -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. The install took several minutes and required a restart, after which I tried opening a few OpenOffice 3 documents in Microsoft's suite.

Most word-processing files looked about right, with only the occasional misaligned graphic or indent (as eWeek writer Jason Brooks found in his tests). But the OpenOffice spreadsheets I opened in Excel came out all wrong -- formulas vanished from cells, replaced by the last number OpenOffice had calculated in those spots.

That can't possibly be what Microsoft intended, but I couldn't find any mention of this issue on the company's Office Interoperability blog. That site did, however, link to a blog post by an ODF developer explaining that the ODF specification "does not yet specify formulas." That seems a huge omission -- certainly something that users should get a clear warning about before they wonder what's wrong with their spreadsheet.

CASIR2.2 anti-virus

CaSIR (Common And Stubborn Infections Remover) -- is an on-demand malware removal software designed especially to remove the most common and stubborn infections from your computer. It can remove their running processes, their bodies, their registry entries and any other leftovers!

CaSIR doesn't randomly search for CaSIs, but he goes directly to the areas that a specific CaSI infects and removes it from there, hence, it does its job in mere seconds!

It has a generic and strong technique that allows it to do the following:

* CaSIR removes the common restrictions made to your computer by those infectors which none of the AVs deal with.
* CaSIR removes the illegitmate services frequently used by those infectors.
* CaSIR recognizes and instantly kills and deletes any running process that is disguising itself among the legitimate system services.
* CaSIR removes any ******s used by those infectors to autorun.
* CaSIR removes any autostarting registry entries related to the illegitmate services he detects.
* CaSIR deals with all your storage medias (Fixed, floppy, removable...) and cleans them up all if need be.
* CaSIR cleans up your system registry so no more spy keys, garbage activities or messages keep asking for already deleted files.
* CaSIR's signatures are fully updatable, once you download the software, all you need to do is to download the new definitions frequently and you're up-to-date and ready-to-go

What are CaSIs?
CaSIs is short for Common and Stubborn Infectors. These are malicious programs (viruses, worms, Trojans, etc.) that are notoriously difficult to detect and to remove by regular anti-virus programs. These programs often have the capability to disable your computer or your anti-virus programs.

Examples of the those infectors are:
Win32.Brontok.q
Win32.Delf.cc
Win32.VB.by
Win32.VB.cz
Trojan.Win32.Small.wv (Medichi & Medichi2)
Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Todon.ai
Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Todon.aj
Worm.Win32.AutoRun.dkk (Ahsan virus)
Trojan-Downloader.Win32.VB.bbl

If one of the above nasty infectors infected your computer you will not be able to install any of the well-known Antivirus software like Kaspersky, Mcafee, Norton, AVG, Panda... (and about 135 more Different AVs)! and please, don't try to use the Safe Mode to remove them manually because those infectors will disable the "Safe Mode"!

How do you get infected by these CaSI's?
Well, mostly because you open an attachment from an email that isn't from one of your friends. Or by using infected removable storage medias (CDs,DVDs/Floppy disks/Flash disks, Memory Cards...). Or just by visiting a suspect website which can result in your computer being compromised.

The only thing that could have saved you was having a good Anti-Virus program with up-to-date signatures. If you didn't have those installed on your computer these CaSI's could enter your system with ease and change lots of settings.

Once you are infected, NOTHING (no well-known anti-virus program such as Kaspersky, Norton, Symantec, McAfee, NOD32, etc.) can rescue you anymore. You and your computer are doomed.

But now there is a solution and it is called CaSIR

Important notes:

1. Since CaSIR is a security software that deal with the file system, the system registry and the running processes, it MUST be given all the rights it demands in order to remove any infection. Some other security softwares will try to block CaSIR and prevent it from doing its job, please make sure it's not blocked and there's no other program blocking CaSIR. During disinfection process we recommend you to disable any other security solution you are runing such as Antivirus, Firewall, monitoring tools ..etc.

2. Please do NOT attempt to run CaSIR in safe mode, CaSIR needs to investigate your system to know what CaSIs are active, if you ran CaSIR in safe mode, he might not be able to detect any active CaSIs, as they usually do not run in safe mode!

3. If you have more than one infected computer connected together to the same local network, do NOT attempt to use CaSIR on the infected computer while the other infected ones are connected to it, this would results in getting infected again and again. You always need to disconnect the infected computer from the network before using CaSIR and do so with all your infected computers one by one!

Istruction:
1. Extract CASIR 2.2
2. run casir2.2.exe in case you open it with notepad rename it with casir2.2.exe into casir123.exe then run.
3.find the code of casir2.2 into the folder with "tsrh" find the keygen and run it. copy and past the activation codes

Google Chrome

Google Chrome is Google's newest web browser in the internet browsing market. Only holding 1% of the entire market.

PBCNX-MAN Tried and tested this and results were outstanding. It beated firefox, IE and even opera in speed. Making it the fastest out there. And this is the only browser that even the newbie can learn without compromising security. It can also be switched to "Nerd Mode" for those who want more technical aspects on how the browser works. And this is the only browser that has it.

It has also this amusing feature called ignotico. Pages you view in ignotico mode won't appear in your browser history or search history, and they won't leave other traces, like cookies, on your computer after you close the incognito window. (So yung mga gusto ng mga ehem dyan, libre na kayo hehehehehe )

I recommend it for the typical internet user. Pero i'm still in Opera Since Google Chrome is still lacking "Extensions" and Customizations. Since Google Chrome's still on it's early stages.

ESET Nod 32 4.0314.0 and NodEnabler 2.8 Download Here!

FACT: Surfing the web and using email is a part of daily life.

FACT: Criminals capitalize on this to their advantage, flooding the Internet with over 100,000 new attacks every day, in an effort to steal your identity or turn your computer into a "zombie" to launch email spam and other Internet crimes.

FACT: Over 70 million users worldwide trust ESET to defend themselves from these attacks.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 is the most effective protection you can find to combat today's huge volumes of Internet and email threats. It provides comprehensive antivirus and antispyware protection without affecting your computer's performance.

Using advanced ThreatSense® technology, ESET NOD32 Antivirus proactively protects you from new attacks, even during the critical first hours when other vendors' products aren't aware the attack even exists. ESET NOD32 Antivirus detects and disables both known and unknown viruses, trojans, worms, adware, spyware, rootkits and other Internet threats.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus is also one of the fastest antivirus solutions, so fast you won't even notice it running. And it's both incredibly easy to use yet simple to tailor for your specific needs.
Key Benefits

Protection from the Unknown — Award-winning ThreatSense technology uses multiple layers of threat detection to deliver the most effective protection possible against new attacks. And ThreatSense is smart; it raises far fewer annoying "false alarms" than any other products that use heuristics.

Finds Malware Other AV Companies Missed — Typically when a new copy of ESET NOD32 replaces another antivirus product on a home computer the average user finds viruses or malware resident on the machine that were undetected by their previous antivirus product.

Built for Speed — ESET NOD32 Antivirus is lightning fast, so fast you won't even notice it's there. Even disk-intensive operations like performing a "full disk scan" to run smoothly in the background while you work or play.

Easy on Your System — ESET NOD32 Antivirus is "lean and mean," typically using just 44 MB of memory, a fraction of what other products consume. Because it's fast and "light," upgrading your existing antivirus protection to ESET NOD32 Antivirus can literally be like buying a new computer. And the new automatic energy-sipping battery mode lets you work or play longer.

Easy on You — ESET NOD32 Antivirus is easier to use than ever before. From its compact and intuitive user interface to its minimal use of alerts, you'll be up and running in a snap. You will receive the best possible proactive detection against malware, without enduring excessive system slowdowns and alerts, reboots or annoying false alarms.
What's New

Smarter Scanner — Threats don't always enter your network in ways you expect. ESET NOD32 Antivirus inspects SSL-encrypted communication channels like HTTPS and POP3S and intelligently scans compressed files to find hidden threats other products miss. Proactive protection begins at the earliest point in system startup to ensure your computer is always secure.

Clean and Safe Email — Email scanning for Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail, and other POP3/IMAP mail clients, ensuring your email is free of viruses and other threats.

Removable Media Security — Threats can enter your PC from removable media such as USB thumb drives. For self-running media, ESET NOD32 Antivirus scans autorun.inf and associated files when the medium is inserted, in addition to scanning any file on any removable device when it is accessed, or during a full-scan of the media. Power users can adjust ESET NOD32 Antivirus to perform additional levels of scanning on removable media.

System Tools — ESET SysInspector and ESET SysRescue simplify diagnosing and cleaning of infected systems by allowing deep scans of system processes to find hidden threats, and creating bootable rescue CD/DVD or USB drives to help you repair an infected computer.

Self Defense — ESET NOD32 Antivirus has built-in technology to prevent malicious software from corrupting or disabling it, so you can rest assured your system is always protected.

Many Usability Improvements — ESET NOD32 Antivirus has numerous speed, security and usability upgrades.

* Energy-sipping battery mode extends laptop battery life without compromising security
* Advanced Protection Status screen informs you of threat detections
* Information pop-ups are hidden when running full screen applications like games, video players or presentations
* Password protection prevents ESET NOD32 Antivirus from being uninstalled by strangers

Mobile Phone Antivirus From ESET [New & Full Version]

ESET have announced that they will be a releasing a mobile phone antivirus software application in January 2009.

ESET are the producers of one of the best antivirus (NOD32) and security suites (ESET Smart Security suite) currently available - I’ve personally been using their NOD32 software for over 4 years and have recommended it to many people over the years. One of the best things about it is that it combines good protection while taking up small amounts of resources, so your computer isn’t noticeably slowed down by it.

When I begin using a new computer or set up a new Windows installation, installing a form of anti-virus software on it is one of the first things I do, if not the first thing! Will people want to have to do this with their mobile phones? Or perhaps the handsets will come pre-installed with mobile versions of antivirus applications - I’m not sure if this would be a good thing or a bad thing!

I can understand as mobile phones begin to use and access the Internet in a more traditional and open manner, then it does open up the possibility for the same malicious software and viruses as well as specially designed ones for mobile devices.

This may begin to be an even problematic area is people begin to use them to conduct transactions with, either online or as a form of swiping/scanning currency.

Perhaps we’ll even start to see virus problem on an Apple device in the form of the iPhone, given it’s popularity, perhaps it will make it a viable target for those people who create these viruses and other malicious software?

I suppose the main question is, do mobile phones/devices need antivirus solutions at this point? How much if anything would you pay them on your mobile phone? Do you think that this will become common place?

The ESET Mobile Antivirus has these key Features, specifications and requirements:
* Proactive Protection - Proactively protects against known and unknown mobile malware.
* Control SMS spam - Sends unwanted text messages to the spam folder with simple rules.
* Heuristics - Proactive protection without relying on signatures.
* On-Demand Scanning - Scan memory and running processes, onboard files and removable media for malware; search deeply into nested folders to uncover malicious software.
* Advanced On-Access Scanning - Scans all accessed files for viruses, including email attachments and files accessed via wireless means such as Bluetooth, WiFi, infrared, GPRS and EDGE.
* SMS Spam Filter - Locks text messages from unknown senders or uses black and white lists to filter your SMS messages.
* Activity Log - Scan statistics are stored in a user-friendly format. Up to 50 logs can be stored onboard.
* Variable In-Depth Scanning of CAB Files - Control the scan depth of compressed cabinet files that may contain other nested folders or other compressed files.
* Automatic/On-Demand Updates - Download signature updates on-demand or automatically at pre-set intervals: daily, weekly, or monthly.
* Intuitive User Interface - Simple and elegant user experience.
* Minimal Resource Utilization - The software consumes about 400 KB installed
* Operating Systems Supported: Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 (Pocket PC Phone/Smartphone Edition), Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.0 (Standard/Professional Edition), Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 (Standard/Professional Edition).
* Memory: 1 MB

Who is the faster internet browser do you think!

I searched all over the net for latest browser speed comparison test and I did not find anything, so I decided why not to make test myself. I already had on my pc, Opera and Firefox so I downloaded latest version of IE7, Chrome and Safari. Since I am big Opera fan and I am using Opera Browser for over 9 years I thought that Opera will easily blow up opponents just like it did maybe two years ago. However I did not count that Chrome is so blazing fast. I used few old tests from HowToCreate.co.uk and Java Script tests from CelticKane.com and also I added few of my own… All browsers are tested on same machine Athlon 3800 64bit, Gigabyte M55S-S3 mainboard and 2 gb DDR2 ram and Windows XP with SP2.
Browsers:
Opera 9.63
Firefox 3.0.4
Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13
Google Chrome 1.0.154.36
Apple Safari 3.2.1

All browsers are tested “out of the box” without any extension or plugin.
This gave significant advantage to Firefox, since it is considerable slower with just couple of extensions.

1. Cold Start:
For cold start test, I run the programs (after windows finish loading) and then I measure time of loading until browser is ready for use. I measure 3 times and between any test I reset my pc. For other tests I also measured 3 times and then calculated average value… After first test, Chrome already jumped on the first place with
unbolivable load of only 1,6 seconds. Opera was second with 3,7 second and surprise was Internet Explorer with just 0,1 second behind Opera. Safari started bad with very slow loading with over 10 seconds.
2. Warm Start
Warm start is the test when I run browser then turn it off and then start it again without turning or logging out from windows. I hardly got Chrome loading time in this case, since it was incredible fast. Safari, for a difference from last test, was now very fast to. Opera and Firefox are slower then first three.
3. Acid 2 test
Acid 2 is web standard compliance test. All browsers easily passed, but IE7 failed completely with ruining and deforming that poor face.
4. Acid 3 test
After easy job on ACID 2, neither one browser passed Acid 3 test. However Opera scored most points, ending it with the score of 85. Chrome was second with the score of 79. Some alpha and beta version of browser are already passing successfully this test…
5. CSS speed test
This test was taken from HowToCreate.co.uk!
Quote:
To test CSS rendering speed I use a CSS benchmark test devised by nontroppo. The test measures the time it takes the browser to render a page consisting of almost 2500 positioned DIVs. The page is stored locally, loaded once to pre-load it, then reloaded 3 times, and the average time taken for those three renderings. The page is the first page loaded after starting the browser (after logging out and in). All browsers took significantly longer during the initial load, which is why I discount this initial load, as it does not reflect the reality of normal rendering. Safari and Firefox headed clear victory here leaving behind Opera then Chrome and IE7.
6. Javascript speed
I assigned browsers to celtickane.com javascript speed test. Every browser is tested three times and then average speed is calculated. Chrome won again with Safari on second, Opera on third, Firefox on 4th and as expected IE7 on the last place.
7. Memory usage
I started every browser with one tab. Opened google.com and then checked with Chrome “memory usage option” how much every browser take memory. IE7 taked easy victory here probably because parts of the IE are in some other windows processes which are not counted. Safari taked shameful last place with using over 65 MB for loading only one page.
8. Setup Size
Opera used to have smallest installation file but now Firefox takes that place. Interesting thing is that if you dont need additional languages then Opera setup.exe is smaller then 6 mb, however since Opera gives this file for download by default then I took that file in count.
8. Setup Size
Opera used to have smallest installation file but now Firefox takes that place. Interesting thing is that if you dont need additional languages then Opera setup.exe is smaller then 6 mb, however since Opera gives this file for download by default then I took that file in count.
Conclusion and FINAL SCORE.
Opera do not have advantage any more. Instead of advantage it is neither anymore the fastest. Chrome is ahead, then Opera on second place and Firefox just behind it (depends on personal taste). Safari is ok browser but weaker then first three, and it looks that Apple marketing is just a bunch of lies. IE7 is the bad thing. Just like a IE6. But since people get it free with windows they still use it. If we counted Opera powers of customizing skins, moving elements (such as menus, buttons, toolbars, adressbar, statusbar, skins) then Opera would be easily be on first place…
Be the one to choose

Swine Flu Virus

What is swine flu?
Swine Flu, or swine influenza virus, is caused by Orthomyxoviruses endemic to swine/ pig populations. Swine influenza virus (SIV) strains are named as Influenzavirus C or subtypes of Influenzavirus A. Swine flu Influenzavirus A subtypes are H1N1, H1N2, H3N1, H3N2 and H2N3.

How do you get swine flu?
One obvious way of transmission is through contact with pigs. Another way of getting swine flu is through contact with people. People who have swine flu may transmit the swine flu from person to person.

What are the symptoms of swine flu?
The symptoms of swine influenza virus are fever, confusion, disorientation, stiff joints, vomiting. One of the fatal symptoms of swine flu is the loss of consciousness as this may eventually lead to death.

The swine flu virus mutates and evolves rapidly. New variant strains have evolved. The new strains were found to show resistance to standard antiviral drugs like amantadine and rimantadine for H3N2 in humans. In 2005, the resistance in humans was 91%.

In 2005, the H5Ni virus was known to exits in pigs without showing symptoms. This finding was in Indonesia.

What are the symptoms of swine flu in human beings?
The swine flu epidemic has transmitted across the species. The symptoms of human transmitted swine flu are similar to human flu. The symptoms of swine flu in humans are fever, tiredness, loss of appetite and coughing.

What are swine flu’s more conditions and symptoms?
Other uncommon symptoms of swine flu include runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

How is swine flu transmitted?
The human transmission of swine flu is via contact with molecules that contain the virus. This means that human transmitted swine flu is spread through coughing, sneezing, touching, nose and mouth contact. The swine flu in a human is contagious during the first 5 days of the sickness. Some children and people can remain contagious for the first 10 days.

What is the treatment for swine flu?
In the US, swine flu is treated with amantadine, rimantadine, oseltamivir and zanamivir. However, some strains of swine flu virus have evolved to become resistant to the drugs. CDC recommends treatment with Tamiflu and Relenza.

Where is swine flu prevalent?
In Mexico, the death toll was 86 on April 26, 2009. In Mexico, 1003 were suspected to have been infected with swine flu.

In Kansas, 2 cases of swine flu were reported.

In NYC, there were 8 cases of swine flu.

On April 26, it was reported that in Elyria, Lorain County, northern Ohio, a boy, 9 years old, had the same strain of virus found in the dead victims of swine flu in Mexico. The boy visited Mexico with his relatives. He visited a Mexican farm and several other places in Mexico. His Ely Elementary School has notified parents to watch out for symptoms of swine flu. The boy had a mild case of swine flu and is recovering.

In Canada, 6 swine flu victims were documented.

In New Zealand, there maybe some cases of swine flu.

In Spain, suspected swine flu cases are known.

What were the previous flu epidemics?
1918 - The Spanish flu pandemic.
1957 - The Asian flu epidemic.
1968 - The Hong Kong flu epidemic.

Source.

President Barack Obama visited Mexico and shook hands with Felipe Solis. Mr Solis, an archaeologist, shook hand with Pres. Obama as he received him at the Museum. Solis died 24 hours later from pneumonia. The White House stressed that flu symptoms took 24 - 48 hours for incubation before showing symptoms. Obama has been back from his Mexico visit for 9 days (counting backwards from around April 26) and his health is fine.

Is swine flu spread by eating pork?

The US’s National Pork Board said it was safe to eat pork as though as the meat has been properly cooked. The virus will be killed at temperatures of 160 degrees and higher.

The US pork producers have to protect its industry of $5 billion p.a. Pork producers, handlers, and everyone else down the line are urged to observe proper measures in processing pigs and pork. Farm workers are encouraged to shower before and after work. They should leave their farm footwear and clothing only for use on the farm. This may limit the transmission of virus through material.

In the US, swine flu was not transmitted from swine to human but rather human to human.

What are the other countries doing to contain swine flu?
Read CNN’s report.

Updated April 27.
Spain has reported its first case of swine flu. The patient is a young student who had returned from Mexico. The patient has fever and respiratory problems. He has responded well to treatment. Source on Spain’s swine flu.

To be continued when updates are available.
