20. Disable Internet Synchronise Time

24. Disable Notification Area Balloon Tips

25. Disable CDROM Autoplay

26. Disable Disc Indexing Service
Right Click Start > Explorer > Right Click Each Disc > Properties > Untick "Allow Indexing Service to index this disc for fast file searching"

Microsoft Updates Office 2007 With "Service Pack 2"

This week brought a major update to Microsoft Office 2007 -- Service Pack 2, a free download that fixes bugs, improves performance and adds a few new features in the company's bundle of productivity applications.
This update should arrive automatically if you use Windows' Microsoft Update option, or you can download the 290-megabyte file yourself.

The headline attraction of Office 2007 SP2 is the support it adds for some important, non-Microsoft file formats. It can read and write Open Document Format files, which may help Office users share files with people running the sometimes-unimpressive, but always free and open-source OpenOffice.org suite. Office 2007 SP2 also lets users save a copy of their work as a Portable Document Format file -- a helpful feature that Microsoft had unwisely required people to install an optional add-on to use before.

A note on Microsoft's tech-support site catalogs other changes this update brings (for instance, "Adds conversion rates to the Excel Euro Currency Tools add-in for the Maltese lira and for the Cypriot pound"), while a separate article details SP2's tweaks to Outlook alone, including some advertised performance improvements.

I tested Service Pack 2 on a Windows XP desktop running the "Standard" edition of Office -- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. The install took several minutes and required a restart, after which I tried opening a few OpenOffice 3 documents in Microsoft's suite.

Most word-processing files looked about right, with only the occasional misaligned graphic or indent (as eWeek writer Jason Brooks found in his tests). But the OpenOffice spreadsheets I opened in Excel came out all wrong -- formulas vanished from cells, replaced by the last number OpenOffice had calculated in those spots.

That can't possibly be what Microsoft intended, but I couldn't find any mention of this issue on the company's Office Interoperability blog. That site did, however, link to a blog post by an ODF developer explaining that the ODF specification "does not yet specify formulas." That seems a huge omission -- certainly something that users should get a clear warning about before they wonder what's wrong with their spreadsheet.

What are CaSIs?
CaSIs is short for Common and Stubborn Infectors. These are malicious programs (viruses, worms, Trojans, etc.) that are notoriously difficult to detect and to remove by regular anti-virus programs. These programs often have the capability to disable your computer or your anti-virus programs.

If one of the above nasty infectors infected your computer you will not be able to install any of the well-known Antivirus software like Kaspersky, Mcafee, Norton, AVG, Panda... (and about 135 more Different AVs)! and please, don't try to use the Safe Mode to remove them manually because those infectors will disable the "Safe Mode"!

How do you get infected by these CaSI's?
Well, mostly because you open an attachment from an email that isn't from one of your friends. Or by using infected removable storage medias (CDs,DVDs/Floppy disks/Flash disks, Memory Cards...). Or just by visiting a suspect website which can result in your computer being compromised.

The only thing that could have saved you was having a good Anti-Virus program with up-to-date signatures. If you didn't have those installed on your computer these CaSI's could enter your system with ease and change lots of settings.

Once you are infected, NOTHING (no well-known anti-virus program such as Kaspersky, Norton, Symantec, McAfee, NOD32, etc.) can rescue you anymore. You and your computer are doomed.

But now there is a solution and it is called CaSIR

Important notes:

1. Since CaSIR is a security software that deal with the file system, the system registry and the running processes, it MUST be given all the rights it demands in order to remove any infection. Some other security softwares will try to block CaSIR and prevent it from doing its job, please make sure it's not blocked and there's no other program blocking CaSIR. During disinfection process we recommend you to disable any other security solution you are runing such as Antivirus, Firewall, monitoring tools ..etc.

2. Please do NOT attempt to run CaSIR in safe mode, CaSIR needs to investigate your system to know what CaSIs are active, if you ran CaSIR in safe mode, he might not be able to detect any active CaSIs, as they usually do not run in safe mode!

3. If you have more than one infected computer connected together to the same local network, do NOT attempt to use CaSIR on the infected computer while the other infected ones are connected to it, this would results in getting infected again and again. You always need to disconnect the infected computer from the network before using CaSIR and do so with all your infected computers one by one!

2. run casir2.2.exe in case you open it with notepad rename it with casir2.2.exe into casir123.exe then run.
3.find the code of casir2.2 into the folder with "tsrh" find the keygen and run it. copy and past the activation codes

Google Chrome

Google Chrome is Google's newest web browser in the internet browsing market. Only holding 1% of the entire market.

PBCNX-MAN Tried and tested this and results were outstanding. It beated firefox, IE and even opera in speed. Making it the fastest out there. Mobile Phone Antivirus From ESET [New & Full Version]

ESET have announced that they will be a releasing a mobile phone antivirus software application in January 2009.

ESET are the producers of one of the best antivirus (NOD32) and security suites (ESET Smart Security suite) currently available - I’ve personally been using their NOD32 software for over 4 years and have recommended it to many people over the years. One of the best things about it is that it combines good protection while taking up small amounts of resources, so your computer isn’t noticeably slowed down by it.

When I begin using a new computer or set up a new Windows installation, installing a form of anti-virus software on it is one of the first things I do, if not the first thing! Will people want to have to do this with their mobile phones? Or perhaps the handsets will come pre-installed with mobile versions of antivirus applications - I’m not sure if this would be a good thing or a bad thing!

I can understand as mobile phones begin to use and access the Internet in a more traditional and open manner, then it does open up the possibility for the same malicious software and viruses as well as specially designed ones for mobile devices.

Who is the faster internet browser do you think!

I searched all over the net for latest browser speed comparison test and I did not find anything, so I decided why not to make test myself. I already had on my pc, Opera and Firefox so I downloaded latest version of IE7, Chrome and Safari. Since I am big Opera fan and I am using Opera Browser for over 9 years I thought that Opera will easily blow up opponents just like it did maybe two years ago. However I did not count that Chrome is so blazing fast. I used few old tests from HowToCreate.co.uk and Java Script tests from CelticKane.com and also I added few of my own… All browsers are tested on same machine Athlon 3800 64bit, Gigabyte M55S-S3 mainboard and 2 gb DDR2 ram and Windows XP with SP2.

All browsers are tested “out of the box” without any extension or plugin.
This gave significant advantage to Firefox, since it is considerable slower with just couple of extensions.
1. Cold Start:
For cold start test, I run the programs (after windows finish loading) and then I measure time of loading until browser is ready for use. I measure 3 times and between any test I reset my pc. For other tests I also measured 3 times and then calculated average value… After first test, Chrome already jumped on the first place with unbolivable load of only 1,6 seconds. Opera was second with 3,7 second and surprise was Internet Explorer with just 0,1 second behind Opera. Safari started bad with very slow loading with over 10 seconds.
2. Warm Start
Warm start is the test when I run browser then turn it off and then start it again without turning or logging out from windows. I hardly got Chrome loading time in this case, since it was incredible fast. Safari, for a difference from last test, was now very fast to. Opera and Firefox are slower then first three.
3. Acid 2 test
Acid 2 is web standard compliance test. All browsers easily passed, but IE7 failed completely with ruining and deforming that poor face.
4. Acid 3 test
After easy job on ACID 2, neither one browser passed Acid 3 test. However Opera scored most points, ending it with the score of 85. Chrome was second with the score of 79. Some alpha and beta version of browser are already passing successfully this test…
5. CSS speed test

6. Javascript speed
I assigned browsers to celtickane.com javascript speed test. Every browser is tested three times and then average speed is calculated. Chrome won again with Safari on second, Opera on third, Firefox on 4th and as expected IE7 on the last place.
7. Memory usage
I started every browser with one tab. Opened google.com and then checked with Chrome “memory usage option” how much every browser take memory. IE7 taked easy victory here probably because parts of the IE are in some other windows processes which are not counted. Safari taked shameful last place with using over 65 MB for loading only one page.
8. Setup Size
Opera used to have smallest installation file but now Firefox takes that place. Interesting thing is that if you dont need additional languages then Opera setup.exe is smaller then 6 mb, however since Opera gives this file for download by default then I took that file in count.

Conclusion and FINAL SCORE.
Opera do not have advantage any more. Instead of advantage it is neither anymore the fastest. Chrome is ahead, then Opera on second place and Firefox just behind it (depends on personal taste). Safari is ok browser but weaker then first three, and it looks that Apple marketing is just a bunch of lies. IE7 is the bad thing. Just like a IE6. But since people get it free with windows they still use it. If we counted Opera powers of customizing skins, moving elements (such as menus, buttons, toolbars, adressbar, statusbar, skins) then Opera would be easily be on first place…
